Debate and Dialog Activity

Find a partner and have a conversation about whether or not to seek genomic screening. One person is to assume the perspective of the stoic. The other is to take the perspective of the skeptic.

People do not necessarily fall into one and only one ethical belief system, therefore let’s apply Aristotle’s principle of the Golden Mean.

Aristotle, a Greek philosopher, applied the concept of the Golden Mean to Ethics. Between two extremes lies the happy medium. Striving for this happy medium ultimately provides happiness and contentedness to all. Living the good life depends on finding the midpoint between vices.
